Every single day without fail the images of perfect looking celebrities are forced upon us as well as news of another new diet to try. Even if you weren’t thinking about weight loss or how you look, you now can’t help but think about it! Eugh!
How on earth are we meant to keep up with the fitness regimes and diets of celebrities when they can afford to have personal trainers daily, dieticians to advise them on what to eat and personal chefs to cook their healthy meals for them? It’s hard enough to fit in a gym session around work and general life never mind stick to some ridiculous programs of fitness and diets. Not to mention the fact that it is hideously boring and repetitive!
So surely it wasn’t just me who breathed a huge sigh of relief when the Zumba craze took over? The new red hot fitness craze combines different styles of dancing like salsa, samba, and belly dancing alongside aerobic moves to create an amazingly fun and easy to follow exercise class. I have tried so many exercise classes, and have never been to one like Zumba in my life. They are always jam packed; people are actually smiling and enjoying themselves. Finally something that all us ‘normal’ people can actually enjoy doing whilst also keeping fit.
Seeing as everyone seems so focused on how we look and what we eat, thank goodness there is now something so fun to do that is exercise! It really is for everyone as well. In the classes I have been to there are men and women, literally people of all ages (teens to grannies!) and all levels of ability. No one cares at these classes if they look good doing it, there are the brilliant dancers who are having a great time and then there are the people who are stumbling over their own feet half the time but also having a great time!
In the nicest and best way possible the instructors all seem to be completely mad but it fits in with the style of the class! Incredibly motivational and make it impossible not to leave without a smile on your face no matter how knackered you are! That’s the thing about Zumba, the steps are so easy to follow (hence anyone can do it) but it’s an unbelievable work out!
So next time you see some ridiculous exercise regime that is recommended by Jen Aniston, J-Lo and whoever else (her mother’s dog’s sister?!), take two minutes to laugh at them before sticking it in the bin! Hello Zumba, where have you been all my life?!
