Our Predictions for the X Factor final 16!

There’s just a few days left until we find out just who – out of the thousands that applied – will be appearing on the X Factor live shows! There are currently 32 contestants in the competition, and the judges will need to whittle down their categories to just four each. It’s going to be tough with so many talented hopefuls! Here’s who WE think will make the final 16! Do you agree?

Oh, and if you love the X Factor just as much as us (that’s A LOT) then have a look at our brilliant X Factor themed games! Just click here.

Girls – Mentored by Kelly Rowland

Janet Devlin

She’s been a favourite since the beginning, and Kelly would be a fool to leave Irish Janet out of her final four. We’re pretty sure that won’t happen though, the 16-year-old’s unique singing voice has reduced Kelly to tears on several occasions!

Jade Richards

Jade wowed the judges with her rendition of Adele’s “Someone Like You”, and has sailed through boot camp since then. Her soft yet powerful voice would be brilliant to watch on the live shows!

Amelia Lily

16-year-old Amelia is a pre-packaged pop star! Her distinctive style and complete confidence make her a dead-cert for the final 16, in our opinion!

Sophie Habibis

Sophie hasn’t featured massively on the show so far, but what we have seen, we’ve loved! She’s humble which will go down well with the voting public, and has a bit of a sob-story which may encourage Kelly to put her through.

Boys – Mentored by Gary Barlow

Frankie Cocozza

‘Ladies’ man’ Frankie may be a bit of a player, but he can really sing! Plus he’s got the ‘likeability’ factor that all the judges keep banging on about.

Joe Cox

Slightly awkward at times, Joe has slipped under the radar slightly in the run up to this weeks ‘Judges Houses’ show. However, we think Gary will love his distinctive voice, which sets him apart from his fellow contestants.

Marcus Collins

This guy has serious soul. His smooth vocals and great dance moves make him much more versatile than some of the other guys – and we’ve never seen someone so confident!

Craig Colton

Craig can belt out a ballad like no one else, apart from Mr Barlow himself, perhaps! His cheeky ways could also make for great entertainment on the live shows.

Groups – Mentored by Tulisa

The Keys

The Keys have been the most prominent group in the competition so far, and manage to put a contemporary twist on the ‘boyband’ format. Not only that, but they can really harmonise!

2 Shoes

The ditzy Essex duo are so entertaining, that we’re pretty sure Tulisa won’t be able to resist putting these two through to the live shows!

The Lovettes

Originally three solo contestants, Put in to a group by the Judges, the Lovette’s could be the X Factor’s answer to the Sugababes! They’re feisty, cute – and have brilliant voices.

The Risk

Another group put together by the judges, The Risk are a bit like One Direction and The Wanted combined – and look how well those two groups have done!

Overs – Mentored by Louis Walsh

Terry Winstanley

We love Terry! Not only can he hold a tune, but granddad Terry can really hold a tune! The voting public will love him.

Carolynne Poole

Carolynne is down-to-earth but has the voice of a superstar diva! Louis has said how much he likes her previously, and we think we’ll definitely see her in the live shows.

Johnny Robinson

Even if Johnny couldn’t sing a note, we’d still want Louis to put him in his final four! We just can’t get enough of the Harrow-born hopeful – who has us cracking up with his hilarious wit! Oh, and he really can hold a tune.

Kitty Brucknell

Ok, so Kitty is slightly annoying, and we’re never quite sure just WHAT she’s going to do next…but you can’t deny the woman can sing! Not only that, but she’ll be brilliantly entertaining – and Louis does love a novelty act. Anyone remember Jedward?

Michael Mcintyre has QUIT Britain’s Got Talent!

We loved Michael Mcintyre as a judge on reality show Britain’s Got Talent – so we’re sad to hear that he has quit the show, after just one series! The hugely popular stand-up comedian decided he wants to have a break from television and return to the stage, reports The Sun Newspaper. Michael said: “I absolutely […]

We loved Michael Mcintyre as a judge on reality show Britain’s Got Talent – so we’re sad to hear that he has quit the show, after just one series!

The hugely popular stand-up comedian decided he wants to have a break from television and return to the stage, reports The Sun Newspaper.

Michael said: “I absolutely loved being a judge but have been itching to get back on stage myself. I wish the show and production team every success.”

BGT’s creator, Simon Cowell, must be slightly worried –  just a week ago it was reported that fellow judge David ‘The Hoff’ Hasselhoff has been axed from the show

Not only this, but Amanda Holden is pregnant – so may have to postpone her return to the show.

Poor Simon – he’ll have no judges left at this rate!

Still, the music mogul can’t be too concerned – The X Factor is still pulling in millions each weekend – with the US version of the hit singing show set to do the same when it launches.

We’re a little bit X Factor obsessed here at My Gala… Lucky for us Gala Bingo has tons of brilliant X Factor themed games! There’s our X Factor Scratch Card where you can win up to £1k, for example!

OR why not get in to the bootcamp spirit with Bingo Bootcamp? Qualifying rounds take place every Saturday and Sunday… with a grand prize of £20k you don’t want to miss out!

X Factor Gossip: Police Called to Kelly Rowland’s House As She Chooses Her Finalists!

The Judges Houses stage of the X Factor is under-way RIGHT NOW – although it won’t hit our TV screens for another few weeks – and there’s been drama already at Kelly Rowland’s Malibu pad!

The ex-Destiny’s Child star has been choosing her final four in Malibu, but had to call the police when men on jet-skis disrupted filming.

It’s said that the men purposely revved the engines of their jet-skis, shouted and waved – while zig-zagging across the water in front of Kelly’s home.

Apparently the noise became so loud that contestants couldn’t hear Kelly telling them if they had got through, or were going home!

Host Dermot O’Leary told The Sun Newspaper: “This guy was doing it on purpose. He kept waving and we had to call the police…the cops are like Miami Vice, and they sorted it out. We did have to stop filming for a while though.”

Phew! We’re glad that was resolved quickly; we wouldn’t want to miss out on the contestants’ reactions as they’re told they will be appearing on the live shows!

Kelly’s group – rumoured to be the girls – had better behave while on the show! Apparently Kelly has banned her X factor hopefuls from smoking, drinking and partying, as she’s determined to win the competition, and wants them to stay focused!

She said: “I didn’t go out until I was at least 22 and I didn’t party until two years ago. I’ve always been strict. I don’t drink a lot, I don’t smoke. I want to succeed.”

We can’t wait for Judges Houses! In fact, we can’t wait for this week’s X Factor! If, like us, Saturday just seems too far away, why not play one of our themed X Factor games?

Our X Factor scratch card is just £1…. But you can win up to £1k! You can find all the details for all out X factor themed games right here! Enjoy!

Remember these? Worst Reality TV shows ever!

Reality TV rules our television sets these days – from shows like The Bachelor to Geordie Shore and Keeping Up with the Kardashians, we just can’t seem to get enough of real people and real lives. Reality TV rules our television sets these days – from shows like The Bachelor to Geordie Shore and Keeping Up with the Kardashians, we just can’t seem to get enough of real people and real lives. Or in some cases, real people being made to look like complete idiots. But while programmes such as the X factor, Big Brother and TOWIE have been instant successes, not all reality television shows have been as popular. We’ve delved into the telly archives to being you some of the WORST reality TV shows ever seen, and ask the question: Just what were those producers thinking??

Cirque de Celebrite

The premise of this show was simple – get some ‘celebrities’ to master various circus tricks, and make them preform in front of an audience. Unfortunately none of the contestants took to circus life particularly well. Also, when your most recognizable ‘celebrity’ is Boyzone’s Shane Lynch – that’s bad.

There’s Something about Miriam

The poor contestants on this show had no idea that they were the punchline of a very public joke. While 12 men thought they were competing for the attention of a beautiful lady, the public all knew the truth – that Miriam was in fact a man. This wasn’t revealed until the final episode, when – as expected – it all kicked off spectacularly, with one contestant threatening to sue . Awkward and uncomfortable.

CelebAir

Imagine that you’re jetting off to your holidays. You’re sitting on the plane, 35,000 feet in the air with no escape. Then ex X-factor contestant Chico appears trying to serve you a beverage. Yes, it’s the stuff of nightmares, but ITV2 also thought this would make good television! Sadly, their audience didn’t agree, and ratings were terrible.

The littlest Groom

American TV show The Littlest Groom attempted to find 4′ 5” Glen Foster a wife. The programme attempted to address some of the issues surrounding predjudice towards appearance, but sort of just ended up laughing at small people. Tacky.

The Farm

The Farm was supposed to show the hard reality of farming life, and draw attention to the plight of British farmers struggling to make a living – by watching as various D-list celebrities attempted the day-to-day running of a working farm. Unfortunately it will only be remembered for one thing – Rebecca Loos pleasuring a pig. Ick.

WAGS boutique

Footy wives split into two teams – and had to set up and run designer clothes boutiques. Had Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham been involved this would have been an instant hit. Unfortunately they were not, and we had to make do with the likes of Krystell Sidwell and Julie Brown. No, we don’t know who they are either. Snoooooze.

Celebrity Love Island

D-list celebrities were sent off to Fiji for this programme, which would have been fine – apart from the fact that it was filmed, and shown on TV. There were actually more arguments than romance, leading to the show being axed… eventually. It limped along for three series before producers finally realised that people just really couldn’t care less if Callum Best kind-of fancied Biance Gascoigne.

Totally Scott-Lee

Former Steps star Lisa Scott-Lee set herself a challenge- get a UK top ten single – or give up music forever. This was mainly worth watching because, let’s face it, everyone knew there was no way Lisa was getting a hit. Sure enough, the final episode showed the devastated ‘singer’ sobbing down the phone – having only reached Number 13. Mildly entertaining.

Playing it Straight

Hosted by June Saprong, Playing it Straight was a twisted version of The Bachelor. One woman spent time with 12 guys, half of whom were gay. Her task was to eliminate all the gay men, who were pretending to be straight –  in order be the last man standing and win. How modern. In fact, the whole concepts harks back to the dark ages, when gay men had to hide their sexuality through fear of being ridiculed, or worse. Not exactly the best message to be promoting!

Shattered

Hosted by Dermot O’Leary (oh how far he’s come) 12 contestants had to go without sleep for seven days, while preforming tasks that tested their mental fitness and dexterity. All this to win an 100k prize, which went down by 1k every time someone closed their eyes for more than ten seconds. If you can’t quite grasp what this show was like, imagine watching your dad try to stay awake for more than 5 minutes while watching TV, waking him up, and making him do a couple of sums. Yawn!

Big Brother vs. The X Factor …. Let the battle commence!

It’s been a weekend FULL of Reality TV, with two of the biggest shows in TV history competing for your attention. Yes, both Big Brother and the X Factor are back! But who gets your vote – Do you prefer Gary, Tulisa, Dermot and their crew of wannabe singers? Or would you rather sit back […]

It’s been a weekend FULL of Reality TV, with two of the biggest shows in TV history competing for your attention. Yes, both Big Brother and the X Factor are back!

But who gets your vote – Do you prefer Gary, Tulisa, Dermot and their crew of wannabe singers? Or would you rather sit back and watch the likes of Kerry Katona, Amy Childs and Jedward preforming crazy tasks and gossiping about each other in the sauna?

We know, it’s a hard decision, which is why we’ve decided to help you out – with our helpful guide to the best, and the worst, of both shows this weekend.

Big Brother

Is love in the air for Amy and Lucien?

Watched by: 5.1 million (launch show)

Best moment: The show has only been on for three days, and already we’re finding it hard to choose our favourite moment.  Kerry’s ‘diva’ tantrum, that had the other housemates looking on in horror? Jedward using a WHOLE bottle of washing up liquid for their bath? No, we think Lucien’s lady drama stole the show this weekend! The 19-year-old actor admitted that he has the hots for Pamela – who’s old enough to be his mum – but there’s clearly a bit of a spark between him and Amy too… what’s going to happen? We can’t wait to find out!

Worst moment: Poor Kerry failed the task set for her by Big Bro when her fellow housemates voted Jedward as the biggest divas in the house, rather than her. As punishment, Kez is up for eviction this week – and had to choose two others to face the chop with her! A tearful Kerry spent ages dithering, and then had to face Bobby and Sally, who she eventually nominated. Isn’t Big Bro mean?!

CRINGE moment: Darryn’s ‘six pack’. We have to say, our eyes nearly popped out of our skulls when we saw Mr.Papparazzi’s sticky-outy abs as he chilled in the Sauna. He’s doesn’t have the most athletic build we’ve ever seen, and yet he seemed to be sporting a rather impressive six-pack! He was questioned by Paddy on the matter, and admitted he’s had sculpting surgery, to give the impression of a buff bod. Cringe!

What we can’t wait to see: More tasks! The housemates took part in an Ancient Egypt themed challenge this weekend, which involved them being mummified and playing musical chairs – all under the watchful eye of billionaire Mohammed Al-fayed – random, but brilliant! We want more like that, BB!

Overall rating: 7/10

The X Factor

Goldie gets a little too close to head Judge Gary!

Watched by: 12.6 million

Best moment: 16-year-old Janet Devlin belted out an amazing rendition of ‘Your Song’ by Elton John – that had the judges on the verge of tears! Her beautiful voice has the bookies tipping the Belfast lass as an early favourite to win the show, and we have to say we agree!

Worst moment: It all kicked off when George Gerasimou, 19, sang his version of ‘Gimme Everything’. George is no stranger to the competition – he auditioned in 2009, throwing his microphone to the ground when his singing was criticized.  The gobby youngster claimed that he had “matured”, but this proved to be untrue when judge Tulisa received a torrent of abuse after she told him the judges had “heard enough.” Gerasimou shouted: “You’re some scumbag trying to replace Cheryl. Some scumbag from the block.” Not nice!

CRINGE moment: Singer Goldie had us squirming in embarrassment as she wrapped her leg around head judge Gary Barlow’s neck during her audition! Her dance routine may have been pretty cringe-worthy, but the 48-year-old must have done something right, as she got through to bootcamp!

What we can’t wait to see: More of Gary’s surprisingly funny putdowns! Call us judgemental, but we had this idea that Mr Barlow was well, a bit boring. You know, the kind who settles down for a game of scrabble on a Friday night in his slippers. Well boy did he prove us wrong! Not only was Gary brilliantly firm with contestants, but he made us giggle more than once. Which is more than Simon’s ever done!

Overall rating: 9/10 – We had been a bit worried that the departure of both Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole might leave the show lacking sparkle – but we were wrong! The new judges were brilliant, and gave the show a new lease of life.

So there you have it! Here at MyGala, we STILL can’t quite decide between the two – although there is something about the X Factor that we just can’t get enough of – but we do know one thing  for certain…we’re going to be watching A LOT of television for the next few weeks! Will you be doing the same?

And, if you love the idea of a battle, why not play Battle of the Clubs at Gala Bingo? There’s a massive 8k up for grabs each week, so get those tickets and let the games commence! All details can be found here. Happy playing!

Shock Twist at X Factor 2011 bootcamp auditions!

The show hasn’t even started yet – but X factor contestants have already faced a shock twist at yesterday’s boot camp auditions. The show hasn’t even started yet – but X factor contestants have already faced a shock twist at yesterday’s boot camp auditions.

Gary Barlow, who has replaced Simon Cowell as head judge, booted 35 hopefuls out of the competition – before they’d even had a chance to sing! Could Gary be following in Simon’s footsteps as Mr. Nasty?

Gary and his fellow judges – Tulisa Constostavlos, Kelly Rowland and X Factor veteran Louis Walsh-  broke the news to devastated contestants yesterday, as they gathered outside boot camp HQ.

According to the Daily Mail, Gary stated: “We don’t believe everyone standing in front of us has the potential to make it all the way in this competition. Some of you are going home now.”

Singer Kelly Rowland added: “While you were partying last night, we were looking at your audition tapes, we only want to work with people who can go all the way.”

With this kind of twist at the audition stage, who knows what surprises the judges have in store for the live shows!

We’ve already heard that there are loads of new and exciting things planned for the eight series of the TV talent show.

The live final is rumoured to be taking place at Wembley Arena  this year, and contestants will be filmed – Big Brother style – as they live together in the X factor house. We didn’t think we could get much more excited – but we just did! Don’t forget to tune in on Saturday 18th August,  this is one you’re not going to want to miss!

And – if you can’t wait until then – check out the new X factor trailer, and tell us what you think!

They Are Back, But Are They Bigger Than Before: New Look For The X Factor And Big Brother!

This month a whole load of reality shows spring back into action!  It is the return of The X Factor and Big Brother.  However both of these shows will be returning with huge changes.  The X Factor of course has 3 new judges and Big Brother has moved to a new channel with a whole host of new people involved in the show.

The first official promo pics have been released for The X Factor with the obvious comparisons being made between Cheryl Cole and her replacement Tulisa Contostavlos from N-Dubz.  In the new pictures Tulisa has long brown hair full of volume and curls and is wearing a Herve Leger bandage dress which Cheryl is a known fan of.  Since she joined the X Factor team she has transformed from “chav” to fab and she looks amazing in the new promos.

In a recent interview she says that her new sleek, flawless appearance is down to a ‘glam squad’ of hair and make-up artists.  “I’m lucky to have a glam squad of hairdressers, make-up artists and stylists who help with red carpet events.  Once you’ve factored in hair straighteners and false lashes, it usually takes two hours.  I loved experimenting with labels like Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen during the auditions but I’m a high street girl at heart.  River Island and Lipsy are my faves.”

Also coming back to our screens but with big changes is of course Big Brother.  This year it moves to channel 5 and will kick off with a celebrity special.  I think the word celebrity should be used loosely though looking at the potential line up.  So far people such as Jedward and Kerry Katona have been suggested for the line-up and strangely so has Sally Bercow.  I doubt we were the only ones thinking – err who?!?  Sally Bercow is apparently the wife of Commons Speaker John Bercow…!  Yeah, we still have no idea who you are or why on earth you would or should be appearing on celebrity big brother.

Also apparently appearing this year is Pamela Anderson and Paddy Doherty from the Channel 4 documentary series My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.  It will be interesting to say the least, although how it can be called celeb big bro, I’m not so sure.

Gary Barlow Gets A Private Plane To Fly Him A Whole 19 Miles!

Gary Barlow is crazy busy!  Not only is he still touring with our fave band Take That, he is also a new judge on our fave TV talent show the X Factor.  It is no surprise then that he is often really pushed for time.

Lucky for him though, the X Factor bosses are worth a bob or two so can more than afford to jet Gazza about to get him wherever needed.  Not just country to country though, they went to the extreme to avoid the traffic on the streets of London and paid £10,000 to fly him across London.

He was flown a whole 19 miles across London from auditions at London’s O2 Arena to the Take That gig at Wembley Stadium.  He still ended up being late for sound check though as a result of traffic on the way to his private plane.  Aww poor you Gazza!  Next time invest in a hovercraft maybe to eliminate any chance of traffic jams?

An X Factor insider said “We shelled out all this money for a private plane as we wanted him to see all the auditions and get to his gigs.  It sounds a lot but we thought it was the best way to get him to Wembley.  Gary is seen as the new Simon Cowell on this show this year, and he certainly travelled like him.”

Was this really necessary?  Do they not know that there is a whole network of super-fast and super regular underground transport in London?  A little something us normal folk like to call the tube.  Save yourselves the money and hassle next time X Factor, an oyster card will do surely?!
