The X Factor: Saturday’s best auditions – Watch them again here, and tell us who YOUR favourite is!

We may have mentioned this before, but we were a little bit dubious about the future of the X factor without Simon, Cheryl and Dannii. We may have mentioned this before, but we were a little bit dubious about the future of the X factor without Simon, Cheryl and Dannii. That was before the show actually started! Saturday’s show was even better than last week, with auditions that had us laughing, gasping, and ok, shedding a little tear now and then.

22-year-old Craig Colton – who works in a biscuit factory – surprised his parents who were watching in the audience, but had no idea their son would be auditioning! The looks on their faces were priceless – and Craig’s rendition of Adele’s ‘Hiding my Heart Away’ had his mum – and us – getting all choked up.

THEN there were The Keys. Aged between 23 and 25, this boyband had the audience up on their feet with their tuneful and original mix – which included a rap and a Destiny’s Child song! Bands traditionally don’t do very well on the X factor (apart from One Direction of course) but we think these guys might just break that mould – love them!

Finally, we saw 19-year-old Misha Bryan– who was raised by her aunt after her mother abandoned her at 3 months old. Yes, we know it’s a sob story – but it worked for us. Her AMAZING version of Aretha Franklin’s ‘Respect’ had Kelly Rowland up on her feet, and most of the audience!

Have a look at these three performances and tell us what you think! Remember to look out for a poll on our Facebook page later, as we want to know who YOU think gave the best audition this week!

The X Factor 2011- Gary Barlow’s best put-downs!

When we heard that Gary Barlow was being lined up for the role of head judge on this years X factor, we have to admit – our first reaction was: ‘oh, but he’s so boring!’.

While the Take That star is undeniably a brilliant songwriter and great singer, he’s never had the reputation of being much fun.

So we were more than slightly apprehensive as we tuned in to watch the first episode of the hit talent show last Saturday – would the X factor be the same without Simon’s nasty remarks?

We shouldn’t have worried. Mr. Barlow, it turns out, is funny! Not only that, but he’s giving Mr.Cowell a run for his money – with some brilliantly honest – and let’s face it, a little bit mean – put downs.

Here’s five of our favourite G-Low – Yes, we did just call him that – quotes from the first show:

1.To an auditionee who called himself the ‘Russian rapper’: “It’s ironic that most of the words in Russian end in ‘off’.”

2.“I think it would be far too much work to get you ready for this year. And next year.

3.“Now Ellen my wife is a dancer. I’m very attracted to dancers. Unfortunately I like singing as well.”

4.To contestant George Garasimou, who claimed he had matured since his previous appearance on the show (when he threw a microphone). “When you said earlier you’ve matured, in what way have you matured? Thing mature nicely – like a red wine or a cheese. You’ve matured like a bad curry, mate.”

5.To contestant Raymond Harding: “If I shut my eyes, I wouldn’t have known if that was a human being or an animal being strangled.”

What do you think? Do you love Gary’s mean side? Or do you think he’s gone too far?
