At only seventeen years old and already playing in Wimbledon, Laura Robson is set to be a UK tennis superstar.  At 14 she won the Wimbledon Junior Girls’ Championship and has reached the final in other junior tournaments as well.  As someone who has largely been defined by tennis her entire life, it’s interesting to look at the girl behind the player for a change.

We are used to all the usual tennis lot looking quite serious and to be honest not that much fun.  You wouldn’t be rushing to invite them on a night out that’s for sure!  Oh how I wish Andy Murray would just smile once in a while.  Teen star Laura on the other hand looks a right laugh.  You just have to look at her Twitter page to get a feel for her personality and it is a reminder that yes she is a pro tennis player but she is also a teenager as well!

Whilst preparing for the WTA Pre-Wimbledon party she posted a picture of her new nails that were suitably decorated with Union Jack details.  Not quite something you can imagine the William’s sisters doing.  She then commented about the dress she was wearing for the party saying “I love my Alexander McQueen dress but it’s extremely difficult to sit down in.  So I’m very awkwardly perched on a stool.”  For once it’s nice to hear someone speak the truth about what they are wearing.  I would prefer it if celebs moaned about getting sore feet from wearing heels all day.  If normal people struggle to wear them for one night out, how on earth can they bear to wear them all day long without a single moan?!  It’s just not normal.

Laura also seems to like to take part in internet phenomenon planking and seems to have a great sense of humour.  It’s just nice to see a normal side to her instead of just the player that is presented to us at other times.  She also said on Twitter that she loves controversial TV show Geordie Shore and that she thinks it is “amaaaaaazing!”  Something that we ourselves love too.  I don’t know what it is, but its just interesting to see a different side to sports people because they are normally so intensely focused on their sport that it seems like a rare glimpse into a secret world.

Well lets hope for big things for Laura and hope that she doesn’t change because we like what we see!  Fingers crossed this is just the start for her!!!
