The day we’ve all been waiting for is finally here – The new series of Big Brother launches TONIGHT at 9pm on Channel 5! *scream*.

But even a few hours is a little too long to wait for us here at Gala, so to wet your appetites for tonight’s big show we’ve prepared a little BB themed treat for you all.

Yes, we’ve decided to choose our 10 best Big Brother housemates of all time – the ones who entertained us for weeks on end, had us chuckling into our cuppas and screaming with laughter at the telly. Have a little look and tell us what you think – who was your favourite?

Craig Phillips

A list of favourite BB contestants just wouldn’t be complete without this cheeky chappy. The Liverpudlian builder originally kept a low profile, but gained huge popularity when he confronted ‘Nasty’ Nick Bateman who had been influencing votes. AND Craig is still on TV today – a whole 11 years later – He must be doing something right!

Brian Dowling

We know how much everyone loves Brian – the Irish scamp won not only his own series, but was also crowned Ultimate Big Brother champion! He won hearts with his sharp wit and caring nature… and is now the host of Channel 5’s relaunched show! Do you think he can fill Davina’s shoes?

Helen Adams

Helen, a hairdresser from Wales is probably best remembered for her now infamous quote: “I love blinking I do”. The ditzy blonde was also the first housemate to find love on the show, and the country watched with fascination as romance blossomed with fellow housemate Paul Clarke . And this was one relationship that didn’t turn off with the cameras – the couple stayed together for five years!

Jade Goody

So much has happened since Jade appeared on Big Brother – including her tragic death – that it’s hard to remember just how entertaining she was, with classic quotes including: ‘Is East Anglia abroad?’. One thing’s for certain – she won the nation over completely.

Nadia Almada

Transsexual Nadia broke was a first in Big Brother history, and quickly became a favourite with viewers. Her skill for gossip, infectious laugh and fiery tantrums made brilliant viewing – an unforgettable housemate!

Nikki Grahame

‘Who IS she? WHO IS SHE??’ – thanks to this little speech we all remember pint-sized Nikki Grahame , the tantrum throwing Big Brother favourite! Her diary room scenes were legendary, and she was so popular with the public that they voted to send her BACK into the house after she’d already been evicted!

Pete Bennett

Tourette sufferer Pete was an unlikely choice to win the entire series in the first few weeks. Yet after tons of both hilarious and touching moments he went on to take the crown. After leaving the house, wacky Pete and neurotic Nikki attempted to win the award for ‘strangest couple of all time’ but sadly broke up a very short time later (no surprises there).

Brian Belo

Essex lad Brian is possibly the nicest bloke Big Brother has ever seen. His unrequited love of twin Amanda Marchant warmed the hearts of the nation, as did his funny and optimistic nature. WE LOVE BRIAN!

Nick Bateman

The man we all love to hate, ‘Nasty’ Nick’s attempt to influence votes in the first ever series of Big Brother has made TV history. Nick also appeared on the ‘Ultimate’ version of the show, and managed NOT to get kicked out for cheating!

Josie Gibson

Bristol born Josie was just as popular with those inside the house as the public watching outside! Throughout her stay in the famous house she never once faced the public vote. She also won the show with the biggest margin in BB history, scoring a massive 77.7% of the final vote.
