His old Take That buddy, Gary Barlow, was one of the first to tweet Robbie and congratulate him. He wrote:
“Massive congrats Rob and Ayda. So happy for you.”

Awww, we’re so happy for Robbie and Ayda and can’t wait for the first pictures of little Teddy.

The X Factor 2011- Gary Barlow’s best put-downs!

When we heard that Gary Barlow was being lined up for the role of head judge on this years X factor, we have to admit – our first reaction was: ‘oh, but he’s so boring!’.

While the Take That star is undeniably a brilliant songwriter and great singer, he’s never had the reputation of being much fun.

So we were more than slightly apprehensive as we tuned in to watch the first episode of the hit talent show last Saturday – would the X factor be the same without Simon’s nasty remarks?

We shouldn’t have worried. Mr. Barlow, it turns out, is funny! Not only that, but he’s giving Mr.Cowell a run for his money – with some brilliantly honest – and let’s face it, a little bit mean – put downs.

Here’s five of our favourite G-Low – Yes, we did just call him that – quotes from the first show:

1.To an auditionee who called himself the ‘Russian rapper’: “It’s ironic that most of the words in Russian end in ‘off’.”

2.“I think it would be far too much work to get you ready for this year. And next year.

3.“Now Ellen my wife is a dancer. I’m very attracted to dancers. Unfortunately I like singing as well.”

4.To contestant George Garasimou, who claimed he had matured since his previous appearance on the show (when he threw a microphone). “When you said earlier you’ve matured, in what way have you matured? Thing mature nicely – like a red wine or a cheese. You’ve matured like a bad curry, mate.”

5.To contestant Raymond Harding: “If I shut my eyes, I wouldn’t have known if that was a human being or an animal being strangled.”

What do you think? Do you love Gary’s mean side? Or do you think he’s gone too far?

Big Brother vs. The X Factor …. Let the battle commence!

It’s been a weekend FULL of Reality TV, with two of the biggest shows in TV history competing for your attention. Yes, both Big Brother and the X Factor are back!

But who gets your vote – Do you prefer Gary, Tulisa, Dermot and their crew of wannabe singers? Or would you rather sit back and watch the likes of Kerry Katona, Amy Childs and Jedward preforming crazy tasks and gossiping about each other in the sauna?

We know, it’s a hard decision, which is why we’ve decided to help you out – with our helpful guide to the best, and the worst, of both shows this weekend.

Big Brother

Is love in the air for Amy and Lucien?

Watched by: 5.1 million (launch show)

Best moment: The show has only been on for three days, and already we’re finding it hard to choose our favourite moment.  Kerry’s ‘diva’ tantrum, that had the other housemates looking on in horror? Jedward using a WHOLE bottle of washing up liquid for their bath? No, we think Lucien’s lady drama stole the show this weekend! The 19-year-old actor admitted that he has the hots for Pamela – who’s old enough to be his mum – but there’s clearly a bit of a spark between him and Amy too… what’s going to happen? We can’t wait to find out!

Worst moment: Poor Kerry failed the task set for her by Big Bro when her fellow housemates voted Jedward as the biggest divas in the house, rather than her. As punishment, Kez is up for eviction this week – and had to choose two others to face the chop with her! A tearful Kerry spent ages dithering, and then had to face Bobby and Sally, who she eventually nominated. Isn’t Big Bro mean?!

CRINGE moment: Darryn’s ‘six pack’. We have to say, our eyes nearly popped out of our skulls when we saw Mr.Papparazzi’s sticky-outy abs as he chilled in the Sauna. He’s doesn’t have the most athletic build we’ve ever seen, and yet he seemed to be sporting a rather impressive six-pack! He was questioned by Paddy on the matter, and admitted he’s had sculpting surgery, to give the impression of a buff bod. Cringe!

What we can’t wait to see: More tasks! The housemates took part in an Ancient Egypt themed challenge this weekend, which involved them being mummified and playing musical chairs – all under the watchful eye of billionaire Mohammed Al-fayed – random, but brilliant! We want more like that, BB!

Overall rating: 7/10

The X Factor

Goldie gets a little too close to head Judge Gary!

Watched by: 12.6 million

Best moment: 16-year-old Janet Devlin belted out an amazing rendition of ‘Your Song’ by Elton John – that had the judges on the verge of tears! Her beautiful voice has the bookies tipping the Belfast lass as an early favourite to win the show, and we have to say we agree!

Worst moment: It all kicked off when George Gerasimou, 19, sang his version of ‘Gimme Everything’. George is no stranger to the competition – he auditioned in 2009, throwing his microphone to the ground when his singing was criticized.  The gobby youngster claimed that he had “matured”, but this proved to be untrue when judge Tulisa received a torrent of abuse after she told him the judges had “heard enough.” Gerasimou shouted: “You’re some scumbag trying to replace Cheryl. Some scumbag from the block.” Not nice!

CRINGE moment: Singer Goldie had us squirming in embarrassment as she wrapped her leg around head judge Gary Barlow’s neck during her audition! Her dance routine may have been pretty cringe-worthy, but the 48-year-old must have done something right, as she got through to bootcamp!

What we can’t wait to see: More of Gary’s surprisingly funny putdowns! Call us judgemental, but we had this idea that Mr Barlow was well, a bit boring. You know, the kind who settles down for a game of scrabble on a Friday night in his slippers. Well boy did he prove us wrong! Not only was Gary brilliantly firm with contestants, but he made us giggle more than once. Which is more than Simon’s ever done!

Overall rating: 9/10 – We had been a bit worried that the departure of both Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole might leave the show lacking sparkle – but we were wrong! The new judges were brilliant, and gave the show a new lease of life.

So there you have it! Here at MyGala, we STILL can’t quite decide between the two – although there is something about the X Factor that we just can’t get enough of – but we do know one thing  for certain…we’re going to be watching A LOT of television for the next few weeks! Will you be doing the same?

And, if you love the idea of a battle, why not play Battle of the Clubs at Gala Bingo? There’s a massive 8k up for grabs each week, so get those tickets and let the games commence! All details can be found here. Happy playing!

Shock Twist at X Factor 2011 bootcamp auditions!

The show hasn’t even started yet – but X factor contestants have already faced a shock twist at yesterday’s boot camp auditions.

Gary Barlow, who has replaced Simon Cowell as head judge, booted 35 hopefuls out of the competition – before they’d even had a chance to sing! Could Gary be following in Simon’s footsteps as Mr. Nasty?

Gary and his fellow judges – Tulisa Constostavlos, Kelly Rowland and X Factor veteran Louis Walsh-  broke the news to devastated contestants yesterday, as they gathered outside boot camp HQ.

According to the Daily Mail, Gary stated: “We don’t believe everyone standing in front of us has the potential to make it all the way in this competition. Some of you are going home now.”

Singer Kelly Rowland added: “While you were partying last night, we were looking at your audition tapes, we only want to work with people who can go all the way.”

With this kind of twist at the audition stage, who knows what surprises the judges have in store for the live shows!

We’ve already heard that there are loads of new and exciting things planned for the eight series of the TV talent show.

The live final is rumoured to be taking place at Wembley Arena  this year, and contestants will be filmed – Big Brother style – as they live together in the X factor house. We didn’t think we could get much more excited – but we just did! Don’t forget to tune in on Saturday 18th August,  this is one you’re not going to want to miss!

And – if you can’t wait until then – check out the new X factor trailer, and tell us what you think!

Gary Barlow is crazy busy!  Not only is he still touring with our fave band Take That, he is also a new judge on our fave TV talent show the X Factor.  It is no surprise then that he is often really pushed for time.

Lucky for him though, the X Factor bosses are worth a bob or two so can more than afford to jet Gazza about to get him wherever needed.  Not just country to country though, they went to the extreme to avoid the traffic on the streets of London and paid £10,000 to fly him across London.

He was flown a whole 19 miles across London from auditions at London’s O2 Arena to the Take That gig at Wembley Stadium.  He still ended up being late for sound check though as a result of traffic on the way to his private plane.  Aww poor you Gazza!  Next time invest in a hovercraft maybe to eliminate any chance of traffic jams?

An X Factor insider said “We shelled out all this money for a private plane as we wanted him to see all the auditions and get to his gigs.  It sounds a lot but we thought it was the best way to get him to Wembley.  Gary is seen as the new Simon Cowell on this show this year, and he certainly travelled like him.”

Was this really necessary?  Do they not know that there is a whole network of super-fast and super regular underground transport in London?  A little something us normal folk like to call the tube.  Save yourselves the money and hassle next time X Factor, an oyster card will do surely?!

Brand New Take That Video – When We Were Young!

No need to get your tissues out yet Take That fans.  Just as we thought they were going to do a disappearing act on us for a while after their monster of a tour, we hear the good news that the video for their latest single has just been released! Yippee!

Their Progress Live 2011 tour became the biggest tour in UK history with a record breaking 1.34 million tickets sold within 24 hours of going on sale.  They delighted fans by performing songs from their youth like Never Forget and now they will delight us even more as they sing about their youth in new song – When We Were Young.

The video was shot in Wembley Stadium after their tour had finished and features them in what looks like the aftermath of their huge gigs!  Whilst Robbie lies on the stage surrounded by confetti and other things left over from the concert the rest of the band are scattered around the empty arena.  Just think, Gary might be sitting in your seat!  I’m jealous and also wish I had hung around after the concert had finished!

It almost sounds like a goodbye song from our favourite boys, so I was relieved to find out that it was recorded as the theme-song for the new Three Musketeers film.  Pheeww!  You can get your paws on the track from the 22nd of August and then the film is to be released in October.  Hopefully this means that if we see the film, we get to hear Take That blasting over the credits in full surround sound.  I was the happiest person ever to be able to enjoy Rule The World cinema style at the end of Stardust!

Gary has said “We wanted to match the film, musically.  We’ve returned to guitars, real pianos and a conventional song structure to achieve this.  We also thought that the Musketeers reminded us of ourselves.”

Aww how nice!  Well as long as you don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon, it’s fine with us boys!  TT Forever!

Take That fever has well and truly taken over me!!!  I am headed to their concert and cannot wait and have decided to dedicate a whole blog to the wonderful boys and their music.  I’m still not convinced on Robbie’s return to the group but I bet after I see them live I will be more than happy to have him back.  Anyway, here are my top 5 Take That songs!!! (It’s difficult to just choose 5!)

1.Rule The World
First created for the soundtrack to the film Stardust and then went on to be a number one hit!  Have loved this song since the first time I heard it and to top it all off I love the film too.  Although it’s not a classic TT oldie, it’s no doubt my number one.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=KII1ruAfvsg

2.Never Forget
No matter how many times you hear this song, I don’t think you can get sick of it.  An oldie but a goody!  Amazing to see live and be in the crowd for, hope they do this one on the new tour too!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfKSIai0RlU

3.Back For Good
The last song with Robster, until the new album that was correct anyway.  Remember when the official announcement was made that Take That were splitting up and help lines had to be set up to help people who were distraught from the news?  This song kind of always reminds me of that.  It is a brilliant song anyway!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NfULt-XTYc

4.Greatest Day
The first track from ‘The Circus’, the second album they released after reforming and my did it have a lot to live up to.  It certainly didn’t disappoint that’s for sure!  They even opened their last tour with this track and for that reason it will always have great memories for me!

5.Shine
Ah little Mark Owen takes lead of this great song.  It’s a bit annoying it’s now used in a supermarket advert because it does kind of remind you of that a bit when you hear it.  But overall a really good song for Take That.  It was amazing when they performed it on ‘The Circus’ tour… what a show!!!
