Hi Michelle! So, where are you from?

I’m from Twickenham in South West London. When people hear that, they always ask if I like rugby – sadly I’m not a massive fan!

How long have you been a CM, and how did you get the job?

I became a CM in December, so it’s coming up to a year now! I’ve actually worked for Gala for the past three years though. I was working in the customer services department when I saw the CM position advertised, I was so excited when I got the job!

Tell us about your best bingo experience?

Oh that’s easy – I had my best bingo experience in Gala Feltham!  My mum pointed out that I’d missed a number being called.  Three numbers later and I’d won £400! We were all high-fiving each other as I’d so nearly missed out – luckily my mum was paying attention! When I got home I threw all the money up in the air as if I were in a film! It was great.

What do you like about being a CM?

I love being a CM. It’s just so nice to enjoy work – and it feels like such a bonus to get paid for something I love doing. Chatting to the roomies is great fun, so often I sit there in hysterics at some of the stories people tell me! I also love how it fits in to my life, and around my kids. I’m happy with every aspect of the job!

What’s creating a buzz in the chat rooms at the moment?

Lots of people are talking about Presenter Quest! It’s really fun to talk about, and roomies egg each other on, trying to convince people to take part! It’s especially good when roomie regular auditions, everyone gets really excited to see them and the support is fantastic. It’s a real community atmosphere!

What’s the strangest question you’ve ever been asked?

Someone once asked if my husband wears a Mankini! I just cracked up laughing!  We then all spent about an hour talking about Mankini’s – it was very funny!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I have two children, a 5-year-old, and an 18-month-old so they take up a lot of my time! I go to various playgroups, baby classes and meet other mums for coffee. I also love getting creative. When I have a bit of time to myself I like to make things – whether it’s sewing or pottery!

Thanks Michelle, it was lovely talking to you!

Chat Moderator Jan tells us about getting to know roomies, and why she loves her job!

Hi Jan! So, first things first – where are you from?

I’m from Aberdeen in Scotland. It’s a lovely place – very cold in the winter though!

How long have you been a CM and how did you get the job?

I became a CM in February so I’ve been doing it for about six months now. I’d been playing in my local Gala club for about four years before I heard about the job – I’d wanted to be a chat moderator for a while so I applied straight away! There were quite a lot of people interviewing for the role, so I was so happy when I got it.

Tell us about your first bingo experience?

My first bingo experience was quite a few years ago now – but I won 2 lines, full house and the jackpot the first couple of times I played – about £3000! I’ve loved it ever since. I won a fair few times at Gala before becoming a CM too!

What do you like most about being a chat moderator?

I love being a CM. I’m paid to talk about anything and everything! When I was a roomie I loved chatting anyway, so to be on the other side is brilliant. My favourite aspect of the job is probably getting to know the roomies – we talk about such different topics everyday! Sometimes I feel a bit like an agony aunt, chatting to people about their problems, other times we’ll all discuss our favourite films – the variety is great.

What’s creating the biggest buzz in the chat rooms?

People are really excited about the Ultimate bingo championship – a lot of people wanted the chance to go to Gibraltar! No lose bingo is always popular too – although with Gala there’s always so much going on, and so many exciting new games and promotions to discuss.

What’s the strangest question you have been asked in a chat?

Someone once asked me if I worked from home, and when I said I did – asked if I ever get dressed! I had to point out that I do Skype the Gala TV gang, so it might be a bit strange if I were in my PJ’s. I haven’t been asked anything really strange though…not yet anyway.

What do you like doing outside of work?

I have two children, aged 14 and 4, so they keep me on my toes! I love spending time with them. I also love watching films. I prefer rom-coms and films like the 40-year-old Virgin, but my boyfriend likes horror films – I’m not such a fan, I have to cover my eyes!

Chat Moderator Nicola tells us about life in sunny Spain, and why she loves her job!

I Started with Gala in November 2010, I already knew another CM on our team and she suggested me for the position.

Where are you from?

I’m from Warrington, Cheshire but I currently live in Spain on the Costa del Sol.

Lovely! Tell us a bit about your first bingo experience.

My first bingo experience was at Gala in Warrington and I won the last house on a Sunday night -£1000!I was well chuffed.

So, do you enjoy being a chat moderator? What part do you like the most?

I love my job as its perfect for me – where else can you meet such fantastic people and watch the joy bingo brings? It’s great. I love the chat with the roomies too, they are fantastic and the buzz when we have a big win is amazing. The atmosphere is brilliant.

What is creating the biggest buzz on the site?

Battle of the Clubs is a great game and seems to go down well with the roomies. The Cash Climber has been won quite a lot recently so that’s getting talked about a lot too.

What is the strangest question you have been asked in chat?

“Do you like chocolate and chilli?” – I can’t ever imagine eating chocolate and chilli… very strange!

What do you like doing outside of work?

I love socialising with mates and going down to my local port for a few drinks and some nice food.  I go to the waterpark a lot at this time of year too and there are some lovely beaches here! I try to go to the beach at least a couple of times a week.  That’s the beauty of living in Spain – there’s always something different to do because the weather is so great. Of course I also spend a lot of time with my two children, we especially love going in to Gibraltar for the ice-skating and the usual girlie thing – shopping!

It was when I was 20 and me and a friend headed down to the Gala Bingo at Gateshead.  We had a brilliant night and even both won!  It wasn’t much but we were happy to have won anything at all.

Do you enjoy your job and what part do you like the most?

I love my job!  I love talking to different people every day and getting to speak to such a variety of people too.  It’s brilliant when you see people win!

Definitely the Ultimate Bingo Championship!  There are already a few roomies going and it is just such an amazing prize!  The Battle games have also been causing a buzz, everyone loves them.

I have been a Chat Moderator for 4 years. I started off in Gibraltar, but then moved back to Leeds after 2 years. It’s nice to work from home.

Leeds

Tell us about your first Bingo experience

My first bingo experience was when I was 19 years old and I won £200 at the Gala Bingo in Leeds. Unfortunately it was not all for me as I had to share it with my friends. I used to enjoy playing bingo online too.

Do you enjoy your job and what part does you like the most?

I really enjoy my job and look forward to it every day. I love how every day is different, but what really gets me going is when I see other players win big…even if I secretly wish it was me. Lol.

What is creating the biggest buzz on the site?

A lot of the games have a huge following, but the Ultimate Bingo Championship is getting the most attention. I think the chance to win a trip to Gibraltar and the jackpots of up to £100,000 is what is exciting everyone.

What’s the strangest question you’ve been asked in chat?!

When I lived in Gibraltar, a lot of roomies asked if they could come on holiday and visit me. Which is always a classic. Apart from that, the other question that sticks out, is ‘What is your shoe size?’. Lol!

What do you like getting up to outside of work?

When I am not interacting with my roomies I like to head out into town with my mates. This is good, considering I live right in the city centre of Leeds, and this can last beyond a couple of drinks! Leeds is one of the best nights out and I recommend it to all the party mad bingo fans! I also enjoy going to watch Leeds Rhinos rugby team…the mighty Rhinos!
