This is one piece of telly news that we really hope is true – Sex and the City is rumoured to be coming back – with a new series on TV. Yes that’s right, soon you could be getting a weekly fix of the brilliant show!
It was originally believed that a third SATC film was in the running, which would be based on the early lives of best friends Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.
Gossips had suggested that a new cast would replace Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattral, Kristina Davis and Cynthia Nixon to play a younger version of the foursome – there were even rumours that Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively and Scream 4’s Emma Roberts were lined up to star in the film.
Now, however a source has revealed that producers actually want to bring SATC back to our TV screens! An insider told The Mail: “Ultimately, Darren Star – the man who created the hit series – will have the overall say, but everyone is agreed a TV show is the direction they want to take the franchise in.
“Sarah Jessica Parker will be producing. She was worried about doing another film after the bad reaction to the SATC2 movie, but a TV show is definitely something she wants to happen.”
We haven’t been told if the original SATC ladies will return for a new series, or if the show will use a new, younger cast to play fashion crazy Carrie Bradshaw and friends as they take on the Big Apple, but we’re excited either way!
What do you think? Who would you like to see playing a young Samantha, or Charlotte? Has this news brightened up your Monday?!
